Muslim voters across the United States cast their ballots heavily in favor of Democratic Party candidates during the November 4 elections, driven by mounting discontent with President Donald Trump’s policies, according to a newly released exit poll.
The survey, published on Monday by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), highlights a strong pro-Democratic trend among Muslim Americans.
Key findings include:
- In New York, 97% of Muslim voters supported newly elected Mayor and Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani.
- In Virginia, Democratic Muslim Senator Ghazala Hashmi secured 95% of the Muslim vote in her successful bid for Lieutenant Governor.
- Muslim voters extended robust support not only to Muslim candidates but also to moderate non-Muslim Democrats. For instance, Democratic Congresswomen Abigail Spanberger of Virginia and Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey—both victorious in gubernatorial races—each received approximately 85% of the Muslim vote.
CAIR’s report emphasized that Muslim voters broadly endorsed the Democratic Party’s centrist non-Muslim candidates, reflecting a strategic alignment beyond identity politics.
