Libya’s Red Crescent reported on Saturday evening (November 15) that four individuals lost their lives when two vessels carrying migrants overturned in the northwestern Al-Khums coastal area. The organization stated it received alerts late Thursday about the incidents. The first boat had 26 Bangladeshi nationals on board, with bodies of four recovered so far. The second vessel carried 69 passengers, including two Egyptians and 67 Sudanese citizens, among whom eight were children. Details remain unclear on whether all 91 remaining individuals from the total 95 aboard both boats have been rescued alive. Rescue teams were promptly dispatched to the site upon notification, recovering the deceased and providing medical care to any survivors located. Libya continues to serve as a key transit point for irregular migrants heading to Europe, placing significant pressure on local authorities to manage the ongoing crisis. According to the UN’s International Organization for Migration (IOM), over 1,000 migrants have died this year while attempting to cross the central Mediterranean
